Text Message Spam Controls?

Email spam is so annoying. Everyday people are innundated with it, and, yes, the filters have gotten better. People invest time and money getting rid of spam, keeping the stuff from ever getting in their in-baskets.

With the growing usage of cell phones for text messaging, video, and music, spam over this media is inevitable. Like the telemarketers at dinner time, unwanted cell phone text solicitations are annoying.

Cell phone usage seems more personal than desktop computers; we carry them in our purses or in our backpacks, and the conversations we have over them are mostly considered private. So what will the perception be about unwanted mobile text messages? Seems like cell phone text spam will be viewed as even more invasive than email spam collected by a computer.

With this perceptual difference, the CAN-SPAM-SMS laws may become even more stricter than the internet CAN-SPAM regulations. Certainly the tools that can stop or prevent spam over SMS will be desireable and handy.
